Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with UN resident coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreyeva.
Mikayil Jabbarov congratulated Vladanka Andreyeva on her appointment to an important position and wished her success in her work in our country. On September 23, at the annual general discussions of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Economy drew attention to the challenges and actual issues arising from the speech of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in video format, and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies to achieve the set goals. It was noted that the Framework Document on Cooperation on Sustainable Development for 2021-2025 was signed between the UN and the Government of Azerbaijan and is currently being implemented. It was pointed out that relations with the UN specialized agencies have been established and effective cooperation is being carried out. Currently, the UN Mission in Azerbaijan is discussing the issue of signing a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Small and Medium Business Development Agency under the Ministry of Economy and the Entrepreneurship Development Fund of the Ministry of Economy, and establishing a Multistakeholder Trust Fund for Acceleration of Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan. These will create additional opportunities for expanding cooperation.
Vladanka Andreyeva, the resident coordinator of the UN in Azerbaijan, thanked for the congratulation and expressed her satisfaction with the start of activities in Azerbaijan. Vladanka Andreyeva drew attention to the effective cooperation of the UN with our country in a number of fields and emphasized that she will make efforts to further strengthen the partnership during her tenure.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the Framework Document on Cooperation on Sustainable Development (2021-2025) between the UN and the Government of Azerbaijan, and the issues of financing the Sustainable Development Goals in Azerbaijan.
